As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations this year WDA has joined the Design Collective Chichester in a collaborative project to celebrate local design practice in and around our wonderful city. Wish You Were Here is the theme and on Thursday 8 August, WDA and around 50 other creatives in and around our beautiful city, will be taking over the space at Pallant House Gallery for a fun evening of celebrating local design talent, networking and an opportunity to browse the gallery space for FREE. The evening kicks off at 6pm, and our postcard designs will be on view along with those of more than 50 other members of the Design Collective Chichester. #DCChi
Alys Bryan, co-founder of the group, says:
“It’s an opportunity for us to use the gallery in a new way and put the spotlight on contemporary creative practice. It’s very much a celebration. It will bring people together who are interested in design and creativity, as well as businesses who could benefit from local creative talent.”
The project is inspired by the huge and vibrant Ivon Hitchens summer exhibition at the gallery and builds on his connections with Sussex and a sense of place.
Emily Penny, brand strategist at Becolourful devised the collaborative project. She explains:
“Each design is an exciting new image in its own right as well as being part of a collective project. We have work from architects, illustrators, ceramicists, digital designers and many other disciplines too. Each designer has made an interesting visual response to a location within 12 miles of Chichester.”
