When you make a decision to move homes it is not made lightly seeing as how hard it can be, mentally and physically and of course emotionally. It is ranked as the third hardest thing a person has to go through, after the death of a loved one and divorce. There are ways to lift the burden though, like hiring a company for removals Gloucester or where you are.

Tip One – Get started as early as you can

If you have not done this often it is a common mistake made that people underestimate how long everything takes, from packing, sorting, organizing storage Cheltenham if you need it, getting rid of unwanted items, cleaning, even the planning time itself. Everything tends to take longer than expected so when you can start early.

You might be moving in two months, but you can start sorting now. Pack a box of things you are donating to charity and get it out. Start putting in boxes things you want to keep and do not need right now, like books. A lot of professional movers say a very common thing they run into is people still in the process of packing when the movers are there and waiting to pack up into vehicles waiting.

Tip Two – Use a checklist and make a moving organizer

A checklist is exactly that, a list of everything that needs doing, you can tick it off as you do it. It is a great way to make sure everything gets done and it can be a source of satisfaction too, that you are on top of things.

You can create your own, but if you look online there are many helpful ones there too. You can also get a binder for putting in any important papers for the move; utilities, mortgage information, leases, your contract with the removals Gloucester company and so on.

Tip Three – Getting your boxes organized

One of the most annoying things about moving is suddenly you cannot find anything in the new place! There are two things you can do to make sure you have the basics ready for the new place. Pack a backpack or suitcase with clothes, toiletries, makeup, hairdresser and anything else you might need for 3 to 5 days. Think of it as packing for a holiday. Remember prescriptions, glasses and anything else you use daily.

Then also have a box for each room labeled as to open first. In that box should be the essential things you need for that room. The bathroom's open first box would have toilet paper, soap, and towels for example. The kitchen's box might have the coffee makers, cups, plates, cutlery, the tea and coffee, and the sugar.

Tip Four – Get rid of things you do not use or need

Why pack and unpack items you just keep in a cupboard or the garage or attic? If you have never used it, it is broken and you still not had it fixed, or it is no longer needed purge. Sell, donate, chuck it away. This is something you can start doing very early.

If you need to keep things, but do not have the room at the new place look for a moving company that also offers options for storage Cheltenham or where you are moving to.
