...with glorious sunshine!
Blue skies, sun cream and more golf caps than a European Tour Event were the order of the day at the second First Friday Network Open Golf Event. The Cathedral Course at Chichester Golf Club once again provided a tough challenge but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm or effort of all those who took part!
Matt Sedgley of Independent Financial Solutions is fast gaining a reputation as a pretty tasty mid handicap golfer and as in the first event, Matt once again took the honours with a score of 34 points. His decision to sacrifice length off the tee by leaving his driver in the bag on the back 9 was the key to his success with 21 of his 34 point total coming on the last 9 holes. Jools Chaffer of Dizzy and Graham Youd of Wilson Design Associates produced creditable performances of 29 points each, taking 2nd and 3rd respectively, whilst Sean Herron of Westwood Golf Academy again struggled to find his true form - we’re certain that it’s only a temporary blip and that he’s just being kind to the rest of the field!
The team event was won by Graham Youd, Bob Grace (WPA Healthcare) and Richard Tivey (ATT Components) – a great performance especially from Richard who hadn’t played for some considerable time.
The individual Order of Merit has seen Matt Sedgley take a 3 point lead over Graham Youd. Graham Threlfall of Eden UK is lying 3rd with Sean Herron close behind. The pressure is mounting and the next event on June 29th promises to be a cracker!
