Problems with your hair? Why you need a Trichologist

Hair Loss Treatment at Sussex Trichoo

Problems with your hair may include hair lossfemale pattern thinningflaky or oily scalp, or out of condition hair, in need of some loving care and guidance to help it look its best again. But what you may not realise is that the solution to these problems may be as simple as seeing a trichologist.

So what is Trichology? Who is a Trichologist?

Trichology is the study of the hair and scalp, in both health and disease and a trichologist should be your first port of call if you have a problem with your hair. However, when choosing your trichologist, it is important to check that they are properly qualified and if possible a member of the Institute of Trichologists too.

What happens during a consultation and how a Trichologist treat hair?

As a qualified and experienced trichologist, I will spend up to an hour with you in your first consultation in my relaxing salon. I’ll ask you about your general health, and medication was taken, diet, lifestyle and stress levels, as well as your hair care routine.

It’s crucial to have a thorough examination of your hair and scalp to give an accurate diagnosis of what’s wrong. But I know and understand how distressing hair loss can be so I do everything I can to make sure you feel comfortable and are able, to be frank with me. Our meetings are confidential, and I promise to be completely honest about what I can and can’t achieve in treatment.

After your consultation, you’ll start your hair loss treatment, and this is done at my clinic. But I’ll also make sure you have clear instructions on what to do when you are at home.

Finally, if it appears that you may need a blood test, this can either be carried out via your own GP (your consultation includes any requests or referral letters) or if more convenient, by our in-house private GP in The Clinic here. The sample is then sent to the laboratory for analysis and results can usually be supplied within a few days, by email if required.

What should you do next?

If this article has struck a chord with you, or if you know of a family member or close friend who is quietly struggling with a hair problem, please get in touch with me. It is far better to discuss the situation with someone who has years of experience than spending an awful lot of time and money on “miracle cures” or worry so much you make the condition worse.

If you’d like some advice about your hair or scalp, just get in touch on 01444 448082 or by emailing me directly at the clinic.
