Back in March, I discussed what the 2012 Budget meant for company car buyers and how the focus was growing on lower-emission cars. Unsurprisingly, new research shows that manufacturers are making more of these cars and data is out showing which models are both quick and efficient.
With cars with low CO² emissions now qualifying for more government tax incentives, for car company buyers, it pays to know what category which cars fall under. But that isn’t to say performance isn’t still high on the list of priorities. That’s why we’ve been pouring over stats on the fastest cars with CO² emissions of below 120g/km, 100g/km and 95g/km.
According to Business Car, the fastest car off the mark in the sub-120g/km category is the Volvo S60 2.4 D5 215HP, which clocks 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds, followed by the BMW 120d (7.2 seconds) and the BMW 320d (7.5 seconds). It’s interesting to see Volvo pipping BMW to the top spot and the performance of the Volvo S60 could well encourage the appearance of more of these cars in fleets.
In the sub-100g/km category, the French take all the medal positions. The Citroen DS5 HDi Hybrid4 DSign has the gold (8.3 seconds), with the Peugeot 508 Hybrid4 saloon and Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 taking silver and bronze. As for sub-95g/km cars, the Volvo C30 1.6 D2 115hp is the third fastest, the Toyota Prius 1.8 VVT-i the second quickest and the Lexus CT200h the top performer (10.3 seconds). You can see all the details here.
GWA Cars & Finance can source and provide the car finance for all these models, whether it’s for a small fleet or a large one. Also, we’ve got a couple of cars on the GWA Cars & Finance forecourt that would make great director-level company cars: a 2007 VW Passat 1.9TDi SE Saloon and a 2008 Mercedes C220 CDi Estate Elegance.
